Executive packs built by hand from an on-premises ERP
The fund's operational and financial data lives in Everest ERP, on its own servers. Executive reporting was produced largely from manual extracts and spreadsheet packs, which made it slow, inconsistent and hard to explore. Licensing, connectivity to the on-premises ERP and readiness of the Microsoft tenant were all open questions.
Listen to every executive, then build one governed platform
We started with a fixed-price discovery: a review of the ERP and the existing packs, and a session with each member of the executive team about what they need. That shaped a governed Power BI platform, connected to the ERP through the on-premises data gateway, with the priority executive reports delivered on one semantic model.
Every executive heard
Each leader had a requirements session, and their needs went into a register ranked with them, so the first reports are the ones that matter most.
The ERP understood
Schemas, entities and data volumes in Everest ERP were profiled and mapped before any build, with read-only access and no changes to production.
Secure on-premises connection
The on-premises data gateway bridges the ERP to Power BI with scheduled refresh, so no data is migrated out of the fund's servers.
One governed model
A single semantic model sits behind every executive report, with workspace governance and a security model agreed up front.
Licensing settled
Power BI Pro, Premium Per User and Fabric capacity were compared for the actual audience, with procurement through an accredited Microsoft partner.
Ready for Fabric
A roadmap shows how the platform moves onto a Bronze, Silver and Gold lakehouse as the fund's data needs grow.
Where the data lives and how it flows
The fund's core operational and financial system, read only, with no changes to the ERP
What changed
The executive team now works from one consolidated, trusted view of the fund instead of spreadsheet packs, refreshed on a schedule straight from the ERP.
The fund's own team can maintain and extend the platform, and the roadmap to Microsoft Fabric is already mapped out for when it's needed.
