A system change that threatened years of history
The business planned to move from ConnectWise to Halo between September 2026 and February 2027. ConnectWise held its tickets, projects, time and billing, agreements and sales pipeline, and every report depended on it. Without a plan, the switch would have broken existing reports and left years of history stranded in a system on its way out.
Land the history first, then let the source change underneath
Before the migration began, we landed ConnectWise data from 2020 onwards in a Fabric lakehouse and built the reports on the lakehouse, not on ConnectWise. When Halo goes live it is added as another source into the same Silver and Gold layers, so the reports themselves don't change.
History from 2020
ConnectWise data from 2020 forward sits in the Bronze layer as a permanent record that can be reprocessed at any time, whatever happens to the source system.
Five subject areas
Service desk tickets, projects, time and billing, managed-service agreements and the sales pipeline, limited to the tables and fields the business confirmed it needs.
Reports built on the lakehouse
Reports read the conformed Silver and Gold layers, not ConnectWise directly, so they don't care which system the data originally came from.
Halo plugs into the same design
When Halo is live, it becomes a new source feeding the same conformed tables, without rebuilding the semantic models or the reports on top of them.
Before and after, side by side
Keeping ConnectWise history means the business can compare performance before and after the switch on the same measures.
Governed from day one
Credentials sit in Azure Key Vault, pipelines are monitored with failure alerts, and everything runs on the business's own tenant.
Where the data lives and how it flows

What changed
The business can change its operational system without losing its history or rebuilding its reporting: ConnectWise data is safe in Fabric, and the reports run on the lakehouse.
When the move to Halo completes, Halo joins the same platform as a new source, and before-and-after comparisons are available on day one.
